Guide to using the site lighting balloon
What is a lighting balloon?
A site lighting balloon is a piece of equipment used on construction sites to provide an omnidirectional light source. It is a portable device that emits a powerful, uniform light, enabling workers to see clearly and safely during night work or in poorly lit areas.
The lighting balloon is usually fitted with LED lamps, providing intense brightness and wide coverage. It can be mounted on a tripod or attached to other structures, making it easy to adjust to specific site requirements.
Worksite flares are often used in construction work, industrial maintenance operations or emergency response, where adequate lighting is essential to ensure safety and productivity. Thanks to their portability and ease of use, these devices have become indispensable tools on modern worksites, offering numerous advantages.
They offer a practical and effective solution for illuminating work areas, improving visibility and reducing the risk of accidents due to poor lighting. In short, site lighting balloons are essential equipment for construction professionals, enabling them to work safely and with optimum visibility. They are used in many sectors (industry, emergency services, construction, etc.).
We offer 2 types of site lighting balloons: the 600/400W balloon in 230V or 24V (from 50,000 to 75,000 Lumens), and a complete range of LUMAPHORE® in 230V or 24V (from 22,560 to 220,800 Lumens). We also offer RGB balloon lighting for events.
How to use our site lighting balloons?
Construction lighting balloons are versatile, efficient solutions that make it easier to get around your worksites. Relatively quick to assemble, they nevertheless require a detailed explanation:
Lighting balloon user guide
First of all, you'll need to ensure that you have a reliable, constant power source. In the case ofa 600XL, you'll need a 230V connection. In the case of 24V lighting, you'll need to find a specific electrical connection to power it, and one that supports very low safety voltage to avoid damaging electrical equipment.
Get your pole (4 or 5m) and deploy it on a solid, flat area. If you intend to use your lighting balloon outdoors and your surface is not perfectly flat, or if you risk exposing your device to gusts of wind, we advise you to bring along an additional ballast bag, available as an option.
Make sure the feet are fully extended and the pole is stable.
Secondly, remove the lighting head from its transport bag (in the case of a 600W/400W balloon), or the LUMAPHORE® from its flight case. Make sure that the electrical cable is not damaged, so that you don't have to lower it again once the pole is fully extended. The 5-meter boom is equipped with a winch for quick and easy deployment.
How to set up your tripod?
The 4-meter tripod can be adjusted in several stages: at each level, a small red clip has to be undone to deploy the pole, which prevents the user from pinching himself and locks the system to reinforce the camera's hold. Once the clip is up, you can extend the pole to the desired height.
Place the construction lighting balloon on your pole, which you've previously positioned in the area you wish to light. Extend the pole to the desired height.
Make sure you have enough cable length to reach your power source: balloons are initially supplied with 7-meter-long cables (shucko plug).
Labérine also offers cable extensions (with specific sockets/plugs according to your requirements). The cable must not be completely taut to avoid the risk of falling or tipping over.
Finally, simply connect the device to your power source, and it will light up instantly.
Our range of construction lighting balloons
We offer 2 types of site lighting balloons: the 600/400W balloon in 230V or 24V (from 50,000 to 75,000 Lumens), and a complete range of LUMAPHORE® in 230V or 24V (from 22,560 to 220,800 Lumens).
230V and 12/24V site lighting balloons
600W - 230V LED lighting balloon: This is the most powerful balloon in its range, illuminating up to 3,700 m² thanks to its 75,000 Lumens. Relatively powerful, it covers large areas and provides optimum floor lighting.
The 400W - 230V LED lighting balloon: with its 50,000 Lumens, it covers a total surface area of 2,000 m².
The 400W 12V/24V LED balloon: A relatively powerful 24V light, delivering 50,000 Lumens like the 230V version, but operating at very low voltage (VLV).
LUMAPHORE® products
In the case of a LUMAPHORE® (if it's part of the XL/XLG or PREMIUM range), you'll be able to switch it on or off from the box fitted on the cable, without having to unplug it.
Other options are also supplied with these ranges, namely :
XL range: equipped with a 2-button ON/OFF switch, with the option of 180° or 360° (180°/360°) illumination.
