Installation of a site LED strip

Lighting on a construction site is essential not only to ensure good visibility, but also to guarantee safety and productivity. LED ribbon lighting is an innovative and versatile solution, increasingly adopted by professionals in the construction, maintenance and industrial sectors. Find out in this comprehensive guide how to choose, install and use these lighting devices to optimize their efficiency.

How to choose your LED ribbon?

To adapt our construction LED ribbons to your needs, you'll need to take certain criteria into account to ensure that the product meets your expectations.

Here are the criteria to consider:

  • Size of job site : first, assess the size of your job site. This information will help you choose the length and quantity of ribbons required: is it a single room to be lit, or several? Is it a medium-sized or large outdoor site?
  • Operating conditions : take environmental conditions into account. This will influence the type of LED ribbon you should use (for example, more waterproof models for outdoor use): Is your worksite indoors or outdoors? In a humid or potentially submerged environment?
  • Desired light output: our LED ribbons are available in different wattages. Consider the luminous intensity required according to the intended use: do you want medium or very powerful lighting?
  • Electrical connection : make sure you have a reliable electrical connection close to the area you want to light. If the LED ribbon's power cable is too short, we can supply extension cords that comply with current standards. You can also choose the socket best suited to your needs (Schuko, Marechal, etc.).
  • Site planning: before installation, carefully plan where you're going to install your LED lighting. Make sure you get full and adequate light coverage. Our models are available in total lengths of 25 or 50 meters, allowing you to adapt them to your space.

How do you power LED ribbon on a construction site?

To power your site LED garland, you'll need a stable, reliable power source, such as a European-style 230V outlet. Here are the possible options:

  • Conventional mains socket: plug the LED ribbon directly into a standard wall socket.
  • Portable power case: if no wall outlet is available, usea portable power case to power the ribbon.
  • Generator: for outdoor or temporary situations, a soundproofed generator can provide the necessary power.

When installing the garland for the first time, test its operation after it has been completely unwound. Do not plug it in while it is still rolled up, as this could cause overheating and damage the product.

Dryable led strip

Our site LED strips operate on standard voltage (220-240V) and are fully waterproof (IP 68). They can be cut every meter at marked points (small dotted lines and scissors).

To connect two cut strips, use LED ribbon connectors or corner connectors. These connectors allow you to make right angles while maintaining uniform brightness, thus avoiding bending the strip.

What are the different ways of attaching site LED ribbon?

There are several ways of mounting LED ribbon on a building site, each adapted to specific needs and different environments.

Adhesive fasteners

The most common method is to use the adhesive strips on the back of the LED ribbons. These allow quick and easy installation on smooth surfaces such as walls, ceilings or scaffolding. However, it's essential to ensure that the surface is clean and dry to guarantee optimum adhesion.

Mounting clips

Fixing clips are another practical solution. They offer additional stability and are ideal for environments where the LED ribbon could be subjected to vibration or movement. Clips can be fixed with screws or nails, ensuring a robust installation.

Magnetic media

For temporary installations or on metal structures, magnetic holders are very effective. They enable LED ribbons to be easily repositioned without damaging the surface. This is a particularly useful option for sites undergoing constant change.

Aluminum rails and sections

Aluminum rails and profiles offer a professional solution for mounting LED ribbons. They protect ribbons from physical damage and dissipate heat, prolonging their life. Profiles can be surface-mounted or flush-mounted, providing a neat, aesthetic finish.

These different fastening methods allow flexible, durable installation, adapted to the specific requirements of each site.

Steps for installing a site LED ribbon

Once you've taken the above points into account, you can proceed with the installation of your site LED ribbon. We also offer optional wall brackets and magnetic brackets for easy installation.

Step 1: preparation

Unroll the LED ribbon to the desired length. Test it to make sure it works properly.

Step 2: Fixing

Place the luminous ribbon at the fixing points you feel are secure. Repeat this operation every 5 to 10 meters to prevent the tape from dragging. If you need to cut the tape, identify the areas to be divided in advance and prepare the necessary connecting cords.

Step 3: Connection

Return to the base of the ribbon and connect it to the controller supplied.

Step 4: Feeding

Connect the ribbon to your power source.

That's it, your LED ribbon is installed and your worksite is illuminated!
