Isolation or separation transformers are used to isolate one electrical installation from another. For example, some specific sites require their contractor to install an isolation transformer to isolate their temporary electrical installation and prevent a problem on the temporary installation from creating other problems on the main site. Another application for the isolation transformer is the possibility to change the neutral regime, which can be appreciated in some cases.
